Therefore, this study is the first attempt to combine tadalafil micronization technology with ODF technology to improve oral bioavailability of insoluble drugs and improve patient compliance. Firstly, a novel TDF-loaded ODF with enhanced dissolution rate was prepared by using a solvent casting method with polyvinyl alcohol 1788 (PVA1788) as a film-forming material, sodium alginate (ALG-Na) as a disintegrant, polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG400) as a plasticizer, and sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) as a surfactant. A blank ODF formulation, including PVA1788, PEG400 and ALG-Na has been optimized previously in our laboratory [38]. Hence, the effects of various drug/excipient ratio and solvent amount on the appearance, thickness, disintegration and mechanical properties of films were investigated. The effects of surfactant type and amount incorporated in ODF on the dissolution rate were also compared due to the poor solubility of drug in water [48,49].

In addition, the surface morphology and physicochemical properties of TDF-loaded ODFs were also evaluated. Then, the particle size of micronized TDF (MTDF) and raw TDF were compared. Ethical approval
